It-handbags as far as the eye can see.
As a major film star, Dakota Johnson is just as well-regarded for her style as she is for her on-screen work.
The 30-year-old actress—who’s known for her roles in Suspiria, A Bigger Splash and of course, the Fifty Shades trilogy—is a muse of Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele, and crafts incredible red carpet looks with the help of stylist-to-the-stars, Kate Young.
It’s rare that chic celebrities give us regular folk a glimpse into their closets, but Johnson is the latest to do so. In March 2020, she opened the doors of her chic L.A. home for Architectural Digest, and in doing so, showed us the kind of closet that fashion dreams are made of.

Now, anyone with an eye for fashion knows there’s a lot to break down here, but we’ll get to that in a minute.
First of all, we need a moment to admire the mid-century décor and fittings in Johnson’s walk-in, including the vintage worn leather chair, the yellow velvet ottoman, and the sumptuous wooden flooring.
And on closer inspection, it’s hard to ignore the sheer amount of Gucci on display.
Aside from the black Gucci loafers and limited-edition ‘Ophidia’ bag in the foreground, the items on Johnson’s shelves include the small ‘Sylvie’ bag in black ($3,775), one of the brand’s discontinued ‘Dionysus’ handbags in red suede (roughly $2,500) and multiple of the brand’s ‘Marmont’ small shoulder bags ($1,685 each).

In terms of footwear, Johnson has multiple pairs of Gucci’s iconic ‘Horsebit’ loafers, from patterned ones to simple leather classics. We also noticed various pairs of the brand’s signature white tennis sneakers and pearl-adorned black boots, and even shearling ankle boots featuring the famous ‘GG’ monogram.
The pair of ballet slippers hanging on the furthest closet door could be an ode to her role as a tormented dancer in 2018’s Suspiria, but maybe we’re looking too far into things.

Aside from all the Gucci—she is a house ambassador, after all—a pair of Chanel’s signature black-toed pumps sit in the bottom-left corner of the image, as well as various white and ivory outfits (Johnson definitely adheres to wardrobe colour coding).
The closet’s eclectic vibe definitely matches up with the rest of the house. Johnson’s bedroom, for example, features artwork by renowned painter David Hockney, and even a monogrammed blanket by who else, but Gucci.

While Kardashian-Jenner-esque closets are considered by many as the definition of ‘closet goals’ (the kind that resemble a small department store), Johnson’s closet is as understated as it is fashion-forward, but most of all, it’s just so her.
